About Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport
More commonly known by its shorter title, Pajas Blancas, Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport is the main airport for the city of Cordoba in Argentina. It serves the city and its province, located less than 10 kilometres from the centre and covering an area of over 10 square kilometres as the third largest airport in the country. Serving over 2.2 million passengers a year, the various airlines offer connections to other South American countries and some European services as an important transport hub in the centre of Argentina.
Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 S.A officially operates Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport, which is used as a base for the Air Force and various international airlines, including Air Europa, LATAM and Copa Airlines. As well as a transport centre, there is commercial entertainment within the terminal, which contains shops, bars, cafes, restaurants and kiosks for waiting passengers. Visitors can try national Argentinian cuisine, buy souvenirs or learn more about the city of Cordoba at the tourist information desk. Waiting lounges are available for visitors in the large, spacious building, and there are kiosks for newspapers and magazines and also outdoor areas.
There are direct transport links from Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport to the city of Cordoba, including an express bus service that travels to the main bus station. A local bus route also connects to the airport and visitors can take a taxi or rent a car from the terminal building. The airport has several daily flights to cities throughout Argentina and a dozen travelling to the country’s capital, Buenos Aires.
Before becoming a passenger airport, Ingeniero Aeronautico Ambrosio L.V. Taravella International Airport was a base for jet planes until its expansion in 2000. Extra floors were added to the structure, and the original terminal became a transport hub of Argentinean domestic flights. The airport continues to expand with plans for a rising number of international services, beyond its current solo flight to Madrid.
